How does the UCAT Preparation Course Work?
Our 4-Day UCAT Preparation Course runs online during the February half-term, from 15th–18th February. Once you register on our website, we’ll contact you via email with all the details for attending. The course is delivered live via Zoom, and you’ll receive the meeting links in the week leading up to the programme.
Each day runs for 2 hours, with interactive lessons, guided practice, and mini exercises to keep you engaged and learning effectively. The course is structured to cover all UCAT sections thoroughly, giving you a clear strategy and strong foundation before your main UCAT preparation begins.
You’ll be sent our Master the UCAT ebook right away so you can get a head start with your preparation. If you choose to add a Medify subscription, you’ll also be sent your Medify login details within 24 hours. If you add tuition hours on purchase, you can book in with a UCAT tutor at any time – either before or after the course dates. You can let us know via email or WhatsApp if you’d like to get started with tutoring, and we’ll set you up with a tutor within 24-48 hours.

What is Covered?
General
Our UCAT crash course focusses primarily on giving you the key strategies you need to understand for each section of the UCAT. By the end of it, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge of top 1% scorers. Everything we teach is followed with examples, and you get the opportunity to practice all of the strategies through the course, with an expert tutor supporting you all the way.
Verbal Reasoning
This section is notoriously difficult. We teach you practical and easily implementable techniques for speed reading, such as how to reduce fixations and how to stop subvocalising and backtracking. We cover strategies for the various question types, when to scan and when to read, and how to effectively scan a text. We also teach things like when and how to infer, applying logic, identifying qualifiers, and a number of other key tools for a top 1% score!
Decision Making
For this section, we cover probabilistic reasoning, various methods for solving shape equations, evaluating arguments, the different types of Venn diagram questions and how to tackle them, Euler diagrams, syllogisms using the seVenn heavens, drawing conclusions, and logical puzzles. We teach the best strategies for each of the question types that come up to make sure you’re fully prepared to tackle anything that comes your way.
Quantitative Reasoning
In this section, we teach you strategies for tackling the various types of questions that come up, including ratio questions, statistics (averages, midpoints, interpreting graphs and charts), timezone problems, drug calculations, converting units, tax calculations, and geometry (area, volume, perimeter and Pythagoras’ theorem). We also have practical teaching on how to most efficiently use the UCAT calculator.
SJT
In this section, we’ll teach you all of the background knowledge you need, such as roles and limitations of various people who appear in UCAT-SJT questions, medical ethical pillars and key themes that come up in questions. We’ll also teach you step-by-step approaches that you can use to maximise your points in the different question types.

What are the timings of the UCAT Preparation course?
MedicHut’s UCAT Preparation Course runs from 10am-12pm on all days. It’s common to over-run until around 1pm depending on the support that attendees need, or Q&A.
Is the Live UCAT Preparation Course different to the video course?
The strategies covered are similar, but taught using different methods and different example questions. Some students prefer live teaching over the half-term or weekend, while others may prefer learning at their own pace with our video course, and a lot of students prefer both.
Is this course enough for me to get a high score?
The UCAT Preparation course will provide you with all of the best strategies to get a top 1% score. However, it’s not enough to just attend and not do any of your own work. It’s essential that you continue to practice questions in your own time. We provide guidance in the course on how to further prepare for the UCAT through practice questions and reflection. You may choose to book an account for the Medify question bank alongside the MedicHut UCAT course for further preparation.
Will I get a refund if I don’t get a good score?
Our UCAT Preparation course is an excellent, tried and tested resource for obtaining a top UCAT score. However, we cannot guarantee an excellent score. Much of this will depend on a student’s individual preparation. We advise a minimum of a further 6 weeks of preparation using the strategies taught. We don’t offer refunds if you’re unhappy with the score achieved.
What else will I need to do to prepare for the UCAT?
Our UCAT Preparation course is an excellent starting point for UCAT preparation and will absolutely be enough to equip you with the tools you need for success. However, you won’t be able to achieve a high score having only attended the masterclass. You’ll need to continue to apply the strategies in your own time and do thousands of practice questions with your chosen resource. The included Master the UCAT ebook includes over 500 practice questions and examples, and you can opt for a Medify subscription for access to over 20,000 more questions. You can use our UCAT revision timetable to plan your preparation, with the crash course being one of the beginning stages of preparation. Many students also opt for one-to-one UCAT tutoring to help maximise their ongoing UCAT preparation. Can I change the date after booking?
You can change the date up to 14 days prior to the course date, in sign with our returns and refunds policy.
