How Does it Work?

Become familiar with the interview style and expectations of your choice university through our 1-hour or 2-hour medicine mock interviews with a medic tutor. MedicHut interview experts know all the ins and outs of medicine interviews and exactly what interviewers are looking for. This is from years of experience analysing medical school interview questions and the best techniques to answer them, personal experiences being interviewers, lots of courses and books on communication skills and professionalism, and from being interviewed themselves!

  • Specific to your university!
  • Have your verbal and non-verbal communication skills assessed
  • Exercise your nerves by being interrogated by a stranger (fun!)
  • Gain practice answering a variety of questions on the spot
  • Receive detailed written and verbal feedback and practical suggestions for improvement
  • Receive a video recording of the mock interview session to look back at

This ensures that students can gauge their preparedness accurately.

To aid my medical school application I used Medichut UCAT 1:1 support – this helped me achieve top 8% with a score of 2900 SJT 1 and enabled me to apply to my favourite universities. After writing my personal statement I then got feedback from Medichut to ensure I had added all I could to support my application. I was delighted to get interviews at Newcastle, Sheffield, HYMS and UEA – the 1:1 specific university support I received from the Medichut tutors was brilliant and I was so happy to get offers from all 4. The support throughout the process was fantastic – thank you!

What do we cover?

Our medical mock interviews typically cover a wide range of topics and scenarios depending on the curriculum of your chosen university. To help prepare candidates for various aspects of the interview process, our mock sessions include:

You may be tested on your understanding  of the NHS, healthcare system, relevant medical concepts and terminologies of medicine.

This includes simulated clinical scenarios where you may demonstrate your problem-solving skills, clinical reasoning, and ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

These are scenarios with ethical considerations commonly encountered in medical practice. You may be asked to discuss your approach, taking into account principles of medical ethics and professional conduct.

You may be asked behavioral questions to evaluate your communication skills, teamwork abilities, leadership qualities, and how you handle challenging situations amongst other attributes.

Role-playing exercises may be conducted to simulate interactions with patients, colleagues, or other healthcare professionals, allowing you to practice your interpersonal skills.

You will receive feedback on your interview performance, including body language, tone of voice, and overall presentation, to help you improve your interview technique.

Can I choose between MMI or panel mock interviews?

Our medicine mock interviews cover both MMI and panel mock interviews.

MMI Mock Interviews – In this format, you’ll have a 1-to-1 session where your interviewer will take you through a series of stations, each with a different scenario or question. Our MMIs are structured to assess various competencies and attributes, such as communication skills, empathy, ethical decision-making, and critical thinking. This is conducted according to the specific university you are applying to. As such, the stations, timing and feedback format will be similar to your chosen university.

Panel Interviews – During your 1-to-1 session, our panel interviewer will assess your overall suitability for medical school, including your academic qualifications, personal qualities, and motivations for pursuing a career in medicine. The interview is typically conversational and structured similarly to how it’s conducted by your chosen university.

What did our previous students think?

I recently went with MedicHut’s personalised university 1-1 tutoring for Medicine interviews and subsequently received all my offers. Amazing communication from both the tutors and admin and a big special thanks to my individual tutors for enhancing not only my interview knowledge but performance through mock interviews and other useful prep – their insight into interviews really showed through. Highly recommend going through with this service as it definitely will not disappoint.

Medichut have been so helpful with my whole application, as my school didn’t give much support, so having their help has made it all so much clearer and easier! I came across the company when on a Premed course and we spent two days doing work experience – including A & E rotations and radiology. Since then, i have been on their weekend interview course, had a mock interview & used their UCAT prep course. I have now got an offer for medicine at kings & can’t thank them enough! A really amazing company!

Very happy with my experience with MedicHut. The company was able to set me up with a tutor within 48hrs which allowed me to get right into it. My tutor Patrycja was so friendly and helpful- she helped me improve my UCAT technique a lot, as well as on short notice preparing me very well for my Sheffield interview. The company also organised a mock interview for me with another fabulous tutor which was so useful. I could not have got my offer to study medicine at Sheffield without all their help.
