How Does UCAT Tuition Work?

Step 1: Booking

We make booking as smooth and easy as possible. Simply hit ‘Buy Now’ in the top right corner and select your chosen package, or use the button below. You can either pay upfront for your chosen number of hours, or pay in 2, 3 or 4 instalments. If you need a customised payment plan, contact us to see if we can arrange this for you.

Step 2: Pairing

Once you’ve purchased your required number of hours, you can either message us. on WhatsApp at +447851862356 with your booking confirmation, or we’ll contact you. We’ll then pair you with one of our expert UCAT tutors, taking into account any of your requirements (e.g. timing, flexibility, learning style, etc.) You’ll be put in a group chat with your tutor to discuss your requirements, arrange your virtual sessions, share homework, and ask questions. If, for any reason, you’re not satisfied with your UCAT tutor, simply let us know and we’ll do everything we can to make things right for you. See our FAQ below for more.

Step 3: Tutoring

Our UCAT tutoring is completely tailored to you, so that means that your tutor will never waste lesson time covering content that you don’t need to cover. We don’t have a ‘set curriculum’ for this reason, and each student’s lessons will look different to another’s. If you’d like to start from the ground up, your tutor will happily arrange a full UCAT tutoring plan for you. If you only want to cover specific topics, your tutor will do exactly that. Lessons can be focussed on covering difficult questions, assessing your strategies and training you to improve your techniques, or teaching you all new strategies for better managing your time in the UCAT.

MedicHut was honestly the most useful resource I had over the last year. I joined after having just two interviews and two rejections post interview in my previous cycle. MedicHut took me from an average UCAT score to a really good UCAT score. I ended up with four interviews and three offers post interview. All the tutors were excellent and always willing to be flexible and work around my time schedule.

MedicHut have been with me every step of the way with support for UCAT (with their help I was able to score in the top 25%), BMAT, personal statement, interviews and with virtual work experience. Within less than 24 hours of my interview I received an offer from the University of Aberdeen. I couldn’t have asked for better support, both in terms of my application but also for me personally whenever I needed advice. Thank you MedicHut – I cannot recommend them enough!!

Abi Marginson, 2023 (via TrustPilot)

MedicHut has been immensely supportive of my application and I’m very happy with the support that I received from them. From the masterclasses for UCAT, BMAT and personal statement to the one to one tutoring for UCAT and specific university interviews have aided me to get 4 interview calls and 2 offers– one of those offers being from my top choice university!

Many students find it vital to have a tutor for A level subjects, but don’t place as high of an importance on their UCAT score, which is equally, if not more important for getting into medical or dental school. A tutor is not only necessary when getting stuck on difficult concepts and questions. Having a specialised teacher for UCAT tutoring to support you through your entire revision journey can hugely impact your score and help you to secure interviews.

With over 37,000 people who sit the UCAT every year, and limited places in medical and dental school, university acceptance is extremely competitive. It’s vital that you work towards a top score to secure the second stage of the application process – interviews.

Book in with a MedicHut UCAT tutor now to maximise your UCAT preparation and chances of success.

We used MedicHut to help with UCAT prep and were very impressed with Anna. My daughter received 4 interview invites and 3 offers for medicine this year. We couldn’t have done it without the friendly MedicHut team and would recommend them to anyone looking for guidance and assistance with the application cycle.

UCAT Tuition – F.A.Q.

Who will my UCAT tutor be?

Our tutors are all medical or dental students who are DBS-certified. Your UCAT tutor will be a top 10% UCAT scorer who is fully trained in providing the highest quality UCAT teaching. You can request a particular tutor and will be matched if they have availability, or you will otherwise be matched with an available tutor who suits your requirements. We give you say over who your tutor is, and although all of our tutors offer the highest quality of teaching, we understand that every student is different. So, if you feel that your learning style isn’t suited to the teaching style of the tutor, we’ll gladly and promptly arrange for you to have someone who better suits your learning. We’re always just a quick WhatsApp message or phone call away, and pride ourselves in doing everything we can to support our students.

How do I schedule my UCAT tutoring sessions once I book?

The quickest way to get started is to contact us on WhatsApp at +44 7851 862356 with your booking confirmation. Otherwise, you can wait for us to get in touch which is usually on the same working day.

How quickly can I start my UCAT tutoring sessions?

We will usually pair you with a tutor within 2 days of your booking, and often on the same day. Once you’re paired, you can discuss your availability with your tutor on your designated WhatsApp group chat in order to schedule sessions.

Can I split the cost of tuition payments?

If you’d like to split the cost of payment, you can do so over a period of 2, 3, or 4 months. If you’d like to register for this, simply select your desired payment plan under ‘Payment’ when booking. This will charge you for the first instalment, and all future instalments will go out of your account automatically on the same day each month until the balance is settled. For example, if purchasing 10 hours over 2 monthly instalments, you’ll pay £175 up front, then will be charged another £175 one month later.

This is not a finance option, and as such, there aren’t prerequisites for approval. However, you would be under contract to complete your payments and be liable for any unpaid services, which you can find more information about in our terms and conditions.

Please note that when you’re splitting the cost of payments, you’re limited to a maximum number of tuition hours per month. For example, if you’re splitting the cost of 40 hours of tuition over 4 months, you can use up to 10 hours per month of tuition.

Do you offer in person UCAT tuition?

We have some availability for UCAT tutoring in person, depending on your location. By default, all of our tutoring is online and held via Zoom, Google Meets or Teams. If you’d like to meet your tutor in person, please contact us and we’ll let you know if we can arrange this for you. Just to note, with the UCAT being a virtual exam, it’s more than sufficient having virtual lessons.

How many hours of UCAT tutoring do I need?

Most of our UCAT students opt for the 20-hour UCAT tutoring package, with some students using more than this and some students using only a handful of hours to brush up on certain skills. Ultimately, the number of hours you need will depend on you. Some students prefer to have lots of tutor-led revision, including timetabling regular sessions, homework, going over questions, allocating mocks, and more. Other students prefer to lead their own preparation, with occasional sessions with a tutor to cover particular areas they struggle with. Because every student is different, there’s no set number of hours that everyone will need. So, if you’re doing really well in your individual preparation, you might want to just get some hours for covering difficult areas. If you’re struggling in your individual preparation or would prefer an expert-led approach from the start, you may want to go for a larger tutoring package. If you want to discuss your circumstances with someone who can better advise you, fill out the contact form above or email us at [email protected].

Do you offer tutoring for international students?

Yes, we cater to a large number of international applicants each year. International admissions for medicine and dentistry are extremely competitive, and the UCAT score needed is much higher for most medical schools. If you’re an international applicant, we’d recommend you start with UCAT preparation early on, and book in tutoring from the beginning to help you maximise your score.

Can I get a bursary?

We currently offer bursaries for our live courses and MMI circuits. We don’t have any bursaries at the moment for one-to-one support. Please see our bursary page for more details.

What’s your refund policy?

The first hour is 100% refundable should you be unsatisfied. Just let us know within 14 days and we can process this for you. You can view our full refund policy here.

Can my sibling use my UCAT tuition hours?

Yes, all hours are fully transferable between friends and family. Simply let us know who you wish to transfer them to and we can process this for you.

What if I don’t use all of the hours I’ve paid for?

Our tuition hours are transferable between the various subjects we offer, so you can utilise unused hours for personal statement, interview or A-level preparation, as well as transfer them to a friend or family member.
