Sunderland Medicine asks for AAA incl. Chemistry or Biology + one of Physics/Maths/Further Maths/Statistics at A-level, or 36 points overall with 6, 6, 6 at Higher Level including Biology and Chemistry. in the IB. At GCSE: Five GCSEs at grade 7/A, with a minimum of grade 6/B in English Language, Maths and double/triple award science. 2027 predicted minimum 1680 (based on the UCAT website deciles); adjusted minimums were 1670 in 2024 and 1680 in 2023. SJT Band 4 is not considered and all applicants are within the top 8 UCAT deciles.
Predicted A-level grades are not used to rank applicants here. That means a lower prediction is not a disadvantage at the shortlisting stage, provided you meet the minimum entry requirement. You still need to achieve the required grades on results day, so keep working to surpass your predictions.
Band 4 in the SJT is rejected here. Band 3 can still apply with no disadvantage.

Sunderland uses Multiple Mini Interviews as the third phase of selection, after academic screening and shortlisting. Some stations are built around your work experience and look at teamwork, communication, resilience and empathy. All interviews are face to face in the Murray Health building. Shortlisting happens in November and December, with interviews running from the week beginning 7 December 2026 into early January and offers from February. Sunderland ranks applicants by UCAT total score. Recent-cycle guidance suggests the effective ranking cut-off has typically sat around 2500-2600 (out of 2700 for 2026 entry) with a satisfactory SJT band (typically 1-3). Aim as high as you can - cut-offs vary with the applicant pool.

Yes. Graduates apply to the same 5-year MBChB (A100). A 2:1 or above honours degree in a science / health subject is required, and GCSE and A-level requirements are still assessed.
A Multiple-Mini Interview (MMI), typically hosted at the Sciences Complex in Sunderland. Stations assess motivation for medicine, motivation for the North East, ethics, empathy, teamwork, leadership and resilience. Successful applicants must also pass Occupational Health and Enhanced DBS clearance.
