In the afternoon you join a realistic GP simulation, take patient histories and get feedback on your communication skills.
What you'll do2
In the morning you take part in a realistic simulated ward round with a full team of healthcare staff, and shadow doctors as they run a ward round in a medical department. You practise listening to the heart and lungs with a stethoscope and using SBAR, a way to hand over patient information clearly: Situation, Background, Assessment and Recommendation. In the afternoon you review chest and abdominal X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans.
What you'll do3
A hands-on day learning anatomy. You scrub up and do a guided dissection using animal specimens. You start with the anatomical position (the standard way of describing the body) and then look closely at the skull, chest and abdomen.
What you'll do4
Hands-on basic life support training, guided by experts. You practise your new skills on patients played by trained actors. Afterwards you can take an online exam to get a 2-year BLS certificate.
What you'll do5
A day at one of London's top medical schools, led by doctors who have sat on UK medical school interview panels. It covers the personal statement, the UCAT and medical school interviews, and how to use what you do during the week in your application.
What you'll do6
A simulated on-call day at a hospital in south London. You follow medical and surgical on calls, answer bleeps, assess and diagnose patients, verify a patient death, prescribe medicines and help manage emergencies, all in a simulated setting.
What you'll do7
A day at an NHS university hospital in central London. You learn about hospital safety and how to deal with agitated patients, take part in a GP simulation, and practise clinical skills. These include taking blood, cannulation (putting a thin tube into a vein), and inserting a nasogastric or NG tube (a tube that goes through the nose into the stomach). You also learn about blood sugar checks and injections under the skin.
What you'll do8
Only on the 2-week residential. You spend a day with King's College medical students learning how doctors examine the nervous system and practise arm and leg neurological exams yourself. Another day is spent with nurses and GPs at a hospice in north London, learning about palliative care (care for people at the end of their life). There is also a lecture from a university's lead neurologist and a practical session.

Student Feedback“I attended 2 sessions with Dr Aayesha, one about emergency medicine and a practical lesson on ward rounds as a doctor. Dr Aayesha made these sessions very interesting as she was a very upbeat speaker. She was very informative , interactive and she happily answered any questions i had regarding the application process. Her time with us gave me a very good insight into medicine, I thoroughly enjoyed her lecture and appreciated her teaching style”
HS Haniyya Siddiqi 5-Star Trustpilot Review“11/10 Experience. I learnt so much about so many different aspects of Medicine, such as an ED workshop with Aayesha and a GP session with Syed. Both of them were phenomenal; they both were extremely informative and great teachers and also super friendly and approachable. They both made the sessions interesting and exciting!!! Highly recommend this.”
AM Amelia Monteiro Trustpilot Review“Going through the process of taking a history with Syed was super helpful, I really feel like I better understand the role of a GP. He was incredibly charismatic and went into a lot of detail about everything we asked. He was more than happy to help however he could. Aayesha's simulated ED was really interesting. She is an amazing teacher and really portrayed the importance of compassion in patient doctor relationships.”
DM Daisy McAlpine 5-Star Trustpilot Review“Dr. Madeline and Bukhari taught us the specialities of Ward round and Radiology. Madeline was a great teacher guiding us the steps to follow in ward rounds with different scenarios. Bukhari taught us how to analyze different types of X-rays. Very fun and entertaining teacher, made me laugh and made anatomy fun.”
CY Carina Yuki 5-Star Trustpilot Review“I liked how interactive the session was and how it was a group discussion and very informative. The real life situations were very interesting and also helped with problem solving. The radiology session with Dr Syed was very eye opening, the practical session was a good way to look at the day to day life of a radiologist and how they can write up their reports.”
G Grace 5-Star Trustpilot Review“Dr Bukhari and Dr Madeline gave us lots of insights and information of what it's like to work in a medical field, and we got to experience the hectic environment in a ward. Very good experience, and I learnt a lot both medically and personally :)”
