What is our UCAT course?
Our 2-day Live UCAT Course covers all of the strategies you need for each section of the UCAT, jam-packed into an intensive, interactive, small-group course. Our content has years of planning and research put into it and is created by students who scored in the top 1% worldwide! The UCAT is supposedly an aptitude test, but it’s very clear that quality preparation can maximise your score. It is essential to learn the strategies and techniques required for answering all sections of the UCAT before committing yourself to weeks of practice.
Students often have “bad habits” when it comes to UCAT preparation – answering questions in a slow and inefficient way. We prepare you to change any incorrect approaches you may already have to ensure that you are utilising every second of your test and maximising your score. Each section is taught thoroughly, giving practice questions throughout and a mini mock test before the next section. The course is extremely interactive, so you’ll be signing up for a day of engaging and informative content delivered in a simplified and really fun-to-learn way!

How does the UCAT Crash Course Work?
Our UCAT Crash Course is an online course that runs from April through to August each year. Once you register on our website, we’ll get in touch via email to give you further details for attendance. The course is held via Zoom, and you’ll receive the Zoom meeting details in the week leading up to your chosen date.
The course runs from 9am to 3pm on both days (Saturday and Sunday on your chosen weekend) with sufficient breaks throughout the day to keep your energised. You can see the full itinerary on the right.
You’ll be sent our Master the UCAT ebook right away so you can get a head start with your preparation. If you choose to add a Medify subscription, you’ll also be sent your Medify login details within 24 hours. If you add tuition hours on purchase, you can book in with a UCAT tutor at any time – either before or after the course dates. You can let us know via email or WhatsApp if you’d like to get started with tutoring, and we’ll set you up with a tutor within 24-48 hours.

What is Covered?
General
Our UCAT crash course focusses primarily on giving you the key strategies you need to understand for each section of the UCAT. By the end of it, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge of top 1% scorers. Everything we teach is followed with examples, and you get the opportunity to practice all of the strategies through the course, with an expert tutor supporting you all the way.
Verbal Reasoning
This section is notoriously difficult. We teach you practical and easily implementable techniques for speed reading, such as how to reduce fixations and how to stop subvocalising and backtracking. We cover strategies for the various question types, when to scan and when to read, and how to effectively scan a text. We also teach things like when and how to infer, applying logic, identifying qualifiers, and a number of other key tools for a top 1% score!
Decision Making
For this section, we cover probabilistic reasoning, various methods for solving shape equations, evaluating arguments, the different types of Venn diagram questions and how to tackle them, Euler diagrams, syllogisms using the seVenn heavens, drawing conclusions, and logical puzzles. We teach the best strategies for each of the question types that come up to make sure you’re fully prepared to tackle anything that comes your way.
Quantitative Reasoning
In this section, we teach you strategies for tackling the various types of questions that come up, including ratio questions, statistics (averages, midpoints, interpreting graphs and charts), timezone problems, drug calculations, converting units, tax calculations, and geometry (area, volume, perimeter and Pythagoras’ theorem). We also have practical teaching on how to most efficiently use the UCAT calculator.
Abstract Reasoning
This section features questions unlike anything most students have ever had to deal with. We teach you about all 4 question types and the best strategies for tackling each. You’ll very quickly start to recognise patterns and be given ample opportunities to practice the strategies in our live course, alongside your expert instructor for support.
SJT
In this section, we’ll teach you all of the background knowledge you need, such as roles and limitations of various people who appear in UCAT-SJT questions, medical ethical pillars and key themes that come up in questions. We’ll also teach you step-by-step approaches that you can use to maximise your points in the different question types.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the timings of the UCAT course?
MedicHut’s UCAT Course runs from 9am-3pm on both days. It’s common to over-run until around 4pm depending on the support that attendees need, or Q&A.
Is the Live UCAT Course different to the video course?
The strategies covered are similar, but taught using different methods and different example questions. Some students prefer live teaching over a weekend, while others may prefer learning at their own pace with our video course, and a lot of students prefer both.
Is this course enough for me to get a high score?
The UCAT course will provide you with all of the best strategies to get a top 1% score. However, it’s not enough to just attend and not do any of your own work. It’s essential that you continue to practice questions in your own time. We provide guidance in the course on how to further prepare for the UCAT through practice questions and reflection. You may choose to book an account for the Medify question bank alongside the MedicHut UCAT course for further preparation.
Will I get a refund if I don’t get a good score?
Our UCAT course is an excellent, tried and tested resource for obtaining a top UCAT score. However, we cannot guarantee an excellent score. Much of this will depend on a student’s individual preparation. We advise a minimum of a further 6 weeks of preparation using the strategies taught. We don’t offer refunds if you’re unhappy with the score achieved.
What else will I need to do to prepare for the UCAT?
Our UCAT course is an excellent starting point for UCAT preparation and will absolutely be enough to equip you with the tools you need for success. However, you won’t be able to achieve a high score having only attended the masterclass. You’ll need to continue to apply the strategies in your own time and do thousands of practice questions with your chosen resource. The included Master the UCAT ebook includes over 500 practice questions and examples, and you can opt for a Medify subscription for access to over 20,000 more questions. You can use our UCAT revision timetable to plan your preparation, with the crash course being one of the beginning stages of preparation. Many students also opt for one-to-one UCAT tutoring to help maximise their ongoing UCAT preparation. Can I change the date after booking?
You can change the date up to 14 days prior to the course date, in sign with our returns and refunds policy. This is subject to availability on your preferred date.
Do you offer any support before or after the course?
Our UCAT Crash Course comes with our bestselling UCAT ebook. This features 500 pages of the best strategies for each section, over 500 examples with worked out responses, mock tests, and more. You’ll receive this book when you purchase our UCAT course and can use it to get a head start before the course date. You can also choose to add access to the Medify question bank for access to 20,000+ UCAT questions in a realistic computerised format. You can use the question bank to continue to prepare for the UCAT using the strategies you learn in the course. You can also book in UCAT tutoring hours for one-to-one personalised support before or after the course. Can I get a bursary for the Live UCAT Course?
