What format is the UCL medicine interview?

UCL has moved to Multiple Mini Interviews. UCL publishes up to eight stations, each with a minute to read the instructions and five minutes with an interviewer asking two or three questions, scored against NHS values, academic curiosity, motivation, problem solving, professional values, teamwork and communication. UCL says its interviewers come from a wide range of backgrounds: clinical staff who work in local hospital and community sites and teach UCL students, professional services staff in the medical school, academic staff, current medical students and teachers from local schools. Home applicants interview in person at the Rockefeller Building and overseas applicants interview online, on a rolling basis from December to the end of March. UCL makes no offers without interview.

How UCL selects for interview

UCAT, GCSEs, A-level predictions and personal statement combined at shortlisting; offers made purely on interview performance.

2026 entry minimum total score to be invited to interview: home 2190, overseas 2300 (the prior cycle's international figure was 3060/3600 ≈ 2280/2700). The SJT is only used to further rank candidates when total UCAT scores are tied at shortlisting - there is no Band 4 rejection.

Typical academic offer: A*AA incl. Biology and Chemistry, with either at grade A* (2027 entry data).
