1 to 1 Hull York (HYMS) medicine mock interview in the MMI circuit format Hull York (HYMS) uses. Recorded session, written feedback, from £69. Book within 48 hours.
Hull York runs an MMI that is unusually varied. The published Home format is scored out of 80 points and includes a group exercise worth 22 points with up to ten candidates taking part at once, two mini interview stations and a student station run by current HYMS students worth 17 points each, and an individual scenario station worth 17 points. Expect a video scenario where you watch a consultation and comment on communication and consent, and an actor based station. No medical knowledge is tested. Shortlisting is a points system rather than a raw UCAT cut-off: best six GCSEs 35 points, UCAT cognitive 35, SJT band 15 with Band 4 rejected, and contextual factors 15. In the most recently published cycle Home applicants interviewed in person at Hull or York in January and overseas applicants interviewed online in December. The big group exercise and the deliberately conversational student station are what most candidates underprepare.
Points system: GCSE results scored out of 35 (best six grades), UCAT scored out of 35, UCAT SJT scored out of 15 (Band 4 not accepted), plus up to 15 contextual points. No hard UCAT cut-off - it is used purely for points, so mid-decile applicants with strong GCSEs are competitive.
HYMS holds no raw UCAT threshold data - applicants are scored by points, not score. The average candidate invited to interview scored 77.03 points under its own system in 2022.
Typical academic offer: AAA incl. Biology and Chemistry (AAB with an A in EPQ also considered) (2027 entry data).
The session reproduces the mmi circuit Hull York Medical School uses, so the pacing, pressure and thinking being tested match the real day.
Single mock £69, with bundles of 3 and 5 available. See all mock interviews, the 2 day live interview course and MMI circuits.
