Chester interviews take the form of six Multiple Mini Interviews and last about an hour and a half in total. Each station is scored by two trained assessors, drawn from medical professionals, academics, current students and lay people, and the stations are designed to assess you against the GMC's Good Medical Practice guidance. Chester does not publish station timings or whether the circuit runs on campus or online, so check your invitation before you plan your travel. After the MMIs, each candidate's score profile is reviewed to decide who gets an offer. Dates are confirmed in your interview invitation
Chester does not publish a fixed cut-off. Applicants meeting the academic requirements are ranked by total UCAT cognitive score; the 2025 effective interview threshold sat around 2,500. Aim for 2,600+ to sit comfortably above the shortlisting line. SJT Band 4 is not an automatic rejection but is used in tie-breaking.
AAB including Biology or Chemistry at grade A plus a second science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Maths) at grade A/B. General Studies, Critical Thinking and Global Perspectives are not accepted.
MMI - approximately 7 - 8 stations of 5 - 7 minutes each, held in person on the Chester campus for 2027 entry (virtual for most International applicants). Values-based stations on empathy, communication, ethics, teamwork, role-play and reflection carry the most weight.

No separate 4-year Graduate Entry programme. Graduates apply to the standard 5-year MBChB (A100) with a 2:1 UK Honours science degree (or a 2:2 with a relevant Masters / PhD), alongside the standard UCAT and GCSE profile.

Chester is one of the smallest MBChB programmes in the region, with a strong North Wales placement footprint. Edge Hill is similarly small but Ormskirk-based; Liverpool is a large, research-intensive traditional course; Lancaster is small and problem-based-learning driven. If you want a small cohort with early clinical exposure across Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales, Chester is a strong fit.
