Greater Manchester Medicine entry requirements (2027 entry)

AAB at A-level with a science, five GCSEs at grade 6 including English and Maths, a UCAT and an MMI - but only if you are an international fee-status applicant, because there is no home intake.

• A-level requirement: AAB including one of Biology or Chemistry, plus one of Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Maths, plus a third subject
• GCSE requirement: At least five GCSEs at grade 6 or above, including English Language and Maths (or accepted equivalents)
• Required subjects: One of Biology or Chemistry is required. The second subject must be Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Maths. General Studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted.
• UCAS code: A100
• Places: International students only for 2026 entry, with a target of around 80 places. There is no UK home intake because the school has not been allocated home places by the Department of Health and Social Care or NHS England.
• Applications per place: Not published. The school is new and takes international applicants only, so competition is lower than at established schools.
• Contextual offers: No contextual or widening-participation route is available at present, because there are no UK home places.
• Fees: Home fees do not apply, because the medical school has no UK home places for 2026 entry. Check the university's admissions pages before each cycle in case an allocation is granted.

How Greater Manchester uses the UCAT

There is no published UCAT cut-off. The school is new, so there is no historic threshold and no released data on interviewed or offer-holding applicants.

Can UK home students apply to the University of Greater Manchester Medical School?

Not for 2026 entry. The school has not been allocated home places by the Department of Health and Social Care or NHS England, so the MBChB is open to international fee-status applicants only. Check the university's admissions pages before each cycle in case that changes.

Is the University of Greater Manchester the same as the University of Bolton?

Yes. The University of Bolton was renamed the University of Greater Manchester on 1 August 2024. The medical school is based at the Bolton College of Medical Sciences in Bolton.

What UCAT score do I need?
