Dundee Medicine Interview Format 2027
Dundee does not run a classic station circuit. The most recent published description is a two part selection lasting around an hour and 40 minutes: an observed group discussion of about 30 minutes with around five other candidates and a silent assessor, followed by a structured one to one discussion with an assessor. Interviews are in person at Dundee, with a remote option for applicants outside the UK. Shortlisting is 60 per cent academic and 40 per cent UCAT for school leavers, weighted the other way for graduates, and Dundee does not use the SJT at all. Interviews run December to February with decisions from March. Preparing only for five minute stations is the classic Dundee mistake, so our mock runs the group task and the long one to one.

2024 entry average interviewed UCAT was 2675 overall (Scottish 2662, RUK 2723, international 2690, graduates 2646). MedicHut predicts Scottish average ~2000, RUK ~2100, international ~2150 for 2027 entry. The SJT is not used.

Common Dundee Medicine Interview Mistakes
You prepare a set of short, polished answers built for a five minute rotating circuit. Why it happens: almost every other MMI trains this instinct, but Dundee runs one long group discussion and one long one to one, so short answers leave large amounts of time unfilled and look thin.
You take control of the group discussion and speak the most in order to stand out. Why it happens: candidates believe visibility equals marks, but the silent assessor is specifically watching for collaboration, so dominating the group actually works against what is being scored.
You hold back in the group discussion to avoid seeming pushy and end up saying very little across the full thirty minutes. Why it happens: candidates overcorrect for fear of dominating and become passive instead, giving the assessor nothing concrete to score either way.
You give a full first answer in the one to one but then run out of things to say when the assessor asks a natural follow up. Why it happens: at close to an hour and forty minutes total, prepared answers that are not genuinely rehearsed in depth get exposed once the easy opening questions are used up.

How to Prepare for a Dundee Medicine Interview
The session reproduces the mmi circuit University of Dundee School of Medicine uses, so the pacing, pressure and thinking being tested match the real day.
Group and one to one combined. We run both parts of Dundee's format, the observed group discussion and the longer structured one to one, in one session.
Extended answer practice. We train answers that hold up over several minutes of discussion, not just short station length responses.
One to one with a tutor. The mock is 30 minutes of interview and 30 minutes of feedback, covering both the group and individual elements.
No SJT distraction. Since Dundee does not use the SJT, we spend the full session on group dynamics and depth of individual reasoning.
