Birmingham Medicine Mock Interview

What format is the Birmingham medicine interview?

Birmingham uses an MMI. Its most recent published format, for 2026 entry, was six or seven stations of eight minutes each including two minutes of preparation, face to face at the Medical School for home applicants and on Zoom for international applicants, and Birmingham has not yet republished this detail for 2027. Selection for interview scores standard applicants 45 per cent academic, 40 per cent UCAT ranked by national decile excluding the SJT, and 15 per cent contextual, with no minimum UCAT cut-off. The SJT band is used at the interview stage. Birmingham says invitations are usually sent between December and January, with interviews in January and February, and that applicants keep being invited until all places are filled. Stations are structured and criteria driven, so scoring well is mostly about hitting every part of the prompt inside the time.

How Birmingham selects for interview

For 2027 entry: 45% GCSE + 40% UCAT + 15% contextual score. UCAT is converted into decile points.

2027 predictions: non-contextual minimum 2010, mean 2240; contextual minimum 1820, mean 2120. SJT is scored as an interview station (B1=3 points down to B4=0).

Typical academic offer: A*AA (minimum AAA predicted) incl. Chemistry + a second science (2027 entry data).
