What format is the Aston medicine interview?

Aston makes MMIs a compulsory part of selection and describes a number of stations covering motivation, communication, listening, problem solving and teamwork, but does not publish an exact station count or whether 2027 interviews are online or in person. Aston states plainly that predicted A-level grades are not used in its scoring at any stage, and that there is no lower cut-off for the UCAT or the SJT, with the SJT band excluded from ranking. Aston lists the qualities it tests as oral and written communication, listening, empathy, compassion, respect and dignity, emotional intelligence, problem solving, motivation, teamworking, being able to lead as well as follow, knowing your limitations and knowing when to ask for help, and says interviews normally take place between December and March in your year of application. Aston wants to see genuine understanding of the communities it serves, so we work on grounded, specific answers rather than generic ones.

How Aston selects for interview

UCAT and GCSEs combined in a 2:1 weighting for shortlisting (UCAT /12 + GCSE /24 = /36). Offers are 50% academic, 25% UCAT, 25% MMI.

A UCAT around 2070 with 6+ grade 8/9s is safe. A combined score of 31/36 is competitive and GCSE-heavy - a low GCSE profile is hard to rescue with UCAT.

Typical academic offer: A*AA incl. Chemistry and Biology (A* in either) (2027 entry data).
