What the practice gives you

You will not cover every hot topic. You will be ready for the ones you have not seen.

We work through a wide range of this cycle's topics, not every topic that exists. That is on purpose. Around 100 questions across ten sessions builds the habit of working through an unfamiliar topic out loud, in the time you are given.

1

Name the issue

Say what the question is really about in one sentence.

2

Weigh both sides

Set out the arguments and who is affected, patients included.

3

Give your view

Land on a clear answer and explain why you hold it.

4

Test your view

Say what would change your mind, and where you would still push back.

So when an interviewer raises something you have not read about, you know exactly what to do with it. You have done it many times before, out loud, with feedback.

Meet your tutors

Taught by the people who coach our interviews.

Your sessions are led by a small team: a resident doctor and senior medical students who teach our interview courses and 1-to-1 coaching all season.

Dr Aaminah

Stop getting caught out by hot topic questions.

Medical schools often ask about ethics, the NHS and recent news. These questions catch students out because there is no single right answer and the facts keep changing.

Each session explores its topics through around 10 different practice interview questions. We explain the key facts and consider different arguments, patient perspectives and ethical decisions. Answer out loud or in the chat, hear other students' reasoning and use the feedback to make your answers more detailed and balanced.

What students say about our interview prep

Reviews of MedicHut's interview courses, tutoring and packages, not this Hot Topics course.

Oli Grantley

2-day Interview Masterclass

“After the Interview Masterclass in London I had a really clear structure to practice with. It made me far more confident and helped me get three offers - definitely would recommend.”

Namitha Chungath

Interview tutoring and mocks

“1-to-1 interview tutoring with two tutors per university meant wider coverage and proper university-specific prep (not generic). Written feedback after each mock - offers from both universities I interviewed at.”

Jemima Stalker

2-day Interview Masterclass

“Splitting the 2-day Interview Masterclass over two weeks let me actually practice between sessions. The MMI mirrored my real interviews almost exactly. Stats weren't exceptional, but the prep got me 4/4 offers.”

Asal Shahed

Premium Package

“MedicHut's Premium Package support was exceptional and enabled me to receive 3/3 offers from Imperial, UCL and Leeds. The 1-to-1 lessons for interview prep were my favourite.”

Knowing the topics is half of it. The other half is how you answer.

Hot topic questions only score well when the answer is structured and balanced. Our live 2-day medicine interview course teaches you exactly that: how to structure any response, how to balance arguments on both sides, and how to stay calm under pressure, with a full mock circuit and feedback.

Questions, answered.

Does the course cover every hot topic?

No. We cover a wide range of hot topics relevant to the 2026/2027 interview cycle, not every possible topic or question. Across the course, we work through around 100 practice interview questions on the topics listed below. Different questions and viewpoints help you explore each topic in detail, practise balanced answers and explain your reasoning. That practice is the point. After working through this many unfamiliar questions, you have a way in for a topic you have not seen: name the issue, weigh both sides, give your view.

How long is the full course?

Five weeks, from 3 November to 3 December 2026. You get 10 live sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, each 90 minutes, plus the recordings. Tuesdays 6:30pm to 8pm, Thursdays 7:30pm to 9pm, except Thursday 3 December 6:30pm to 8pm UK time.

Are the sessions online?

Yes. All 10 sessions are live on Zoom. Tuesdays 6:30pm to 8pm, Thursdays 7:30pm to 9pm, except Thursday 3 December 6:30pm to 8pm UK time.

What if I miss a session?

Every session is recorded. You get the recording for each session you book.

Do I need to prepare?

We send short reading on the topics when you book. Reading it first helps you get more out of the practice.

When do I get the reading?

When you book. The reading for your session is sent as soon as your booking is confirmed, so you have time to go through it before the session.

What happens after I book?

We set up a Student Portal account for your email and send you a sign-in link. Your short reading for the session is waiting there, with the Zoom link to join on the night. The recording is added afterwards, so you can watch it again.

Will I get to answer questions?

Yes. We ask for volunteers all through each session, so everyone has the chance to answer, either out loud or written in the chat. We encourage you to get involved as much as you can. You also hear other students answer, act as the interviewer and give feedback, so you can see what a good answer looks like and what does not work.

Is this useful for dentistry?

Yes. Most of these topics, like ethics, the NHS and public health, also come up at dentistry interviews.

How does this fit into my medical school interview preparation?

It covers the current affairs side. Learn how to structure answers on our 2-day interview course, practise this cycle's topics here, then test yourself with a university-specific mock or a live MMI circuit. Compare interview packages if you want them together.

Is there a discount for interview course students?

If you bought our 2-day medicine or dentistry interview course, in a package or on its own, online or in person, use HOTTOPICS20 for the full five-week course at £240 instead of £300. That saves £110 compared with buying ten £35 sessions. Use your course purchase email. If the code isn't working, contact us and we'll check your booking.

Do you offer bursaries?

Yes. You can apply for a bursary of 10% to 100% off this course. Apply for a bursary here and we'll be in touch within 7 working days.
